Welcome to Computer Class!
Hello and welcome to computer class! My name is Miss Jasmund. This is my fourth year teaching at Huron Academy. I am very excited about the year ahead, and look forward to working with your child!
Kindergarten-First Grade: You can expect your child to acquire/enhance basic computer knowledge and techniques. Your child will learn how to utilize the mouse and keyboard. Your child will also participate in activities that use technology to reinforce Huron’s curriculum. In addition, your child will be introduced to beginning keyboarding lessons by using the Type to Learn Jr. program. As with the older grades, your child will get the experience of working in Microsoft programs, Internet Explorer, as well as gain experience working on our classroom SMART Board.
Second-Sixth Grade: You can expect your child to acquire/enhance basic computer knowledge and techniques. Your child will learn proper keyboarding techniques by participating in the Type to Learn 4 program as well. Your child will also have the opportunity to work in the Microsoft programs: Paint, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. In addition, your child will get the experience of working in Internet Explorer (Research and Internet Safety) and Google Earth. Fifth and sixth grade will get the experience of working in Gaggle as well, which is a monitored email, blog, chat, and message program. You can expect your child to also gain experience working on our classroom SMART Board.
